about us

Huellas que Trascienden combats poverty by transforming the talents of indigenous women of Chiapas into income for their households, through an innovative and integral way.

We work on five elemental fronts:

1. We provide an interest-free loan of resources in kind. This ensures that they will be invested correctly to start a productive project.
2. We offer the workshop “A Business That Transcends”, which consists of 12 basic business courses, taught in their native tongues. These courses are designed to guide the women in the beginning stages of their projects.
3. We monitor their projects through counseling sessions up to 3 years to ensure their success.
4. We assist the participants so that they can sell their products in a fair market, without intermediaries.
5. We promote cultural exchange and community-based tourism so that cash flow reaches them.

The points mentioned above result in the possibility to save money and improve the living conditions of the women involved.
We are creating empowered and productive women in order to build a better Mexico.
Message from the founder

Hi, my name is Mauricio Raigosa and I am the founder of Huellas que Trascienden. Everything started in 2013, when I traveled from Monterrey, my hometown, to Chiapas for the first time. I was traveling with my backpack, a great book, my journal, and was excited to unplug myself from daily life for a week. Chiapas stunned me and the people left me breathless. I discovered a magical place with a unique energy; a place rich in history, culture, and traditions.

Traveling around the state made me realize the level of poverty in which many people live. I saw how hardworking the local women are. I also realized that the interest rates local companies charged were ridiculously high for the poorest people. I remember being in the main plaza of San Cristobal de las casas, drinking hot chocolate and eating corn bread, when an epiphany struck me as lighting.

I realized that, in Chiapas, I could consolidate all the things I enjoy and value: teaching, learning, launching start-ups, and developing myself. It was, at this moment, that I decided to start Huellas que Trascienden.

This path has been full of lessons, personal encounters, and very valuable people joining the cause.

I now work full time in the organization from San Cristobal de las Casas and also manage my business in Monterrey from here.

I appreciate your visit to our website and your interest in supporting the principles to which this organization is dedicated.
